Hello everyone,

We have been using netflow for a long time and recently a request was sent
by other group in our company asking for vlan traffic statistic on some
Foundry devices, apparent netflow does not support this layer2 info so i am
looking into sflow solution now, before i take a deep dive, i have the
following two questions I wish someone can give me a quick answer.

1)sflow supports vlan in its format, so what is the quickest way to pull
traffic count in a spefic vlan?

2)what applicatioin will you guys recomment to store the history data and
display the result in some sort of GUI interface?

Thanks in adavce !

There is a list of all the tools that support sFlow here:

http://www.sflow.org/products/collectors.php

but not all of them will take advantage of the VLAN information that
is included in sFlow.

I do know that this tool (from our company) includes a "top vlans"
chart that will give you the quantitative data you are looking for:

http://www.inmon.com/products/sFlowTrend-Pro.php

To turn on the sFlow feed from the Brocade (Foundry) devices, it is
just a few commands at the CLI:
http://www.inmon.com/support/faq.php#configuresFlowFoundry

I've found pmacct to be the simplest to start with.

that depends on many factors; I'd suggest trying nfsen as it now

trying different settings now.

We have been using nfsen for a long time, and it seems that although the
newest nfdump beta partially supports sflow, it is no clear if it has the
capability to do vlan accounting. have not done any tests on this though.
